FLASH FICTION-THE FROST PIXIE

Hello and happy spring! Our snow is almost all gone. It has been cold but today is suppose to be warm. Hope it's warm where you are. Today I have some flash fiction. Hope you enjoy.

THE FROST PIXIE

He's not very big but he can certainly do his thing. The frost pixie is ice blue and flits around in the morning.
The air is always cold and you know he is near.
His favorite is the sedum. He can rest on it while he paints the tips of the flowers with white.
Sometimes he sings when he sits there. He sounds like a bird singing.
His whitish blue wings are bigger than he is and are translucent. When the first ray of sun hits them they shimmer.
Don't try to catch him, you'll end up with a nasty bite.  As beautiful as he is, one must be very careful and keep their distance.
If you come near and he knows that you see him, he might try to lure you to come near and follow him. You do not want to follow him.
Where he lives, is very beautiful but extremely dangerous.
Only admire him and let him go about his business.
If he winks at you, you might be in for some good luck or not.
Take care of the frost pixie.

POPPY & THE PRINCE SHORT STORY-THE GLASS COFFIN

Hello, I hope Spring is finding you were you live. It slowly coming here.  Today I have another installment of Poppy & The Prince. Hope you enjoy.

Poppy & The Prince

The Glass Coffin

There was a glass coffin in the centre of the faerie forest. No one was allowed to go there. But they did anyway.
Some would leave gifts of nuts, leaves, and necklaces made from violas. Others would sit on top of the glass coffin and talk to her and maybe try to waken her.
Of course, she did not waken.
The one in the coffin was cursed by the prince. He wanted to make her his princess but she ran away and so she was punished.
The glass coffin is still there.
The fall king who told her call him Tomcat looked down at Poppy and grinned. "Are you running away from your prince?"
Poppy swallowed hard. "Are you saying that I will be cursed like her and put into a glass coffin?"
The others around stirred and muttered amongst themselves in their own faerie tongue. She didn't understand them.
"I'm not saying anything my dear. I just want to know why you ran away from the prince. You know he is about to become a summer king?
Poppy shook her head.
"Well, he is and he wants a mate before he becomes king. It will make him look stronger."
Poppy looked down at the ground. "I should be going so if you would escort me...
He laughed making her shiver. "I think we should invite him here so he can see who has you. This will call for favor."
"Don't do that," whispered Poppy.
Tomcat raised an eyebrow. "Did you say something dear? Speak up so we all can hear you."
"Don't invite him, please." She met his green eyes this time. Poppy could feel the magic in them. She looked away.
He let out a soft laugh. "Of course you don't want me to invite him." He smirked. "I was only teasing. I would never invite him here. That would be nasty. He has a quick temper that prince boy does. Did you know that? Oh, I guess you didn't or you wouldn't have ran away."
He came up to her and sat down beside her.  "You can stay here if you like."
The smell of the forest and damp earth wafted around her. It clung to her skin.
"Thank you but I should be going." She got up and went about two steps when he was in front of her. How did he do that?
"No, no, I insist you stay. We haven't shared any food yet. What kind of host would I be if I didn't offer you some of our food and wine?"
Poppy knew she had already ate some faerie food and drank their wine so it was too late for her anyway but she didn't want to share any wine or food with Tomcat. She had to find a polite way to decline his offer without offending him. She looked up at him trying not to focus too much on those green eyes of his and offered him a small smile. "Thank you very much for you offer. It has been most generous but I ate not long ago and would just really like to be on my way. Again, thank you for everything."
She stepped around him and started to walk away when his voice stopped her.
"Don't you want to hear the rest of the story love? Don't you want to know more about the girl in the glass coffin?"
Poppy slowly turned around. All eyes were on her. His green eyes shone like a cat. Her skin had goose bumps.
"Come, sit down love and hear the rest of the story."
Her feet though were frozen to the ground. She figured the cause was fear.
Tomcat gestured to one of the others who leapt up and two strides was beside her. He gently pushed on the small of her back, pushing her toward the rest of them. She had no choice but to go. He escorted her to a seat beside Tomcat.
He smiled in satisfaction. "That's better. Now. about the girl in the glass coffin. The prince went to her one day and was going to wake her but something happened." Poppy waited for him to continue but he was remaining quiet. Then he leaned over to her and in a low voice said. "She showed up." His body shook.
"Who is she?"
"The winter queen. She is very powerful and possessive. Apparently, the queen wanted the girl for herself. Why she wanted her is beyond me but the queen had her centricities. What ensued that night with the prince and queen was quite something." He paused for a moment as if he was trying to figure something out. "They struck a deal."
Poppy was guessing he would have like to know what that deal was.
"So, what happened to the girl in the glass coffin?"
He looked down at her and once again the damp smell of the earth enwrapped her. "They let her go."
Poppy frowned. "They let her go? Why did they do that if they both wanted her?"
"Well, " he grinned. "I think I have figured it out. The girl has been guarded all this time and now the prince once again is trying to claim her. The queen on the other hand probably still wants her but only if the girl does something. Then he has to hand her over."
"What would that be?"
"I'm guessing running away would be one."
"Running away?"
His grin grew into a full smile. "Yeah, runaway. Just like you did."
Poppy's chest sunk. She got up and looked up at them all.
Then she ran like she had never ran before.

SHORT STORY-ROSE & SAM

Hi everyone. I hope it is warm where you are. It's cold and windy today where I am. Today I have one of my strange little stories. Hope you enjoy.

Rose & Sam

They met at a poetry reading. He liked her red hair and sat down near her.
Rose was an artist who did painting on the street and sold them. She drank green tea.
Sam wanted to go up to her but didn't know what to say. He was shy.
When the poet finished his piece, it was intermission. Rose looked around and the first thing she saw was big brown eyes staring at her. She smiled.
Sam blushed but got the courage to sit down next to her. He told her his name and asked if she wrote poetry.
Rose said sometimes. She also told him her name and informed him that she was an artists who painted.
Sam said he painted too and asked her where she sold her stuff. Rose told him.
When intermission was over , he bought her another green tea. That made her smile and Sam thought her smile was the prettiest.
When the evening was over Sam walked her home. They decided to meet where she sold her paintings and paint together.

***

Sam looked out the window and it was raining. They wouldn't be able to paint together. He texted her.
Rose read the text. She replied that there was another place that could paint.
That made Sam happy. He would get to see her smile again.
They met at a park where there was an outdoor area that had a roof on it. It was very protected. It was a good place to paint thought Sam.
As they talked about art together, they learned things about each other.
Rose learned that Sam didn't like thunder storms but didn't mind the rain. He thought it was soothing. He also told her that he was unhappy of late because his mom and dad were getting a divorce. Sam said he didn't want to go home as it wouldn't be the same.
Rose sympathized. She told him that it was just her and her dad. Her mom took off to pursue a career and didn't want them. She said she missed having a mother in her life.
Together they decided that you had to find your own path in life and make you own happiness.
After an hour there, the rain stopped and the sun came out. Rose went out onto the wet grass in her bare feet and danced.
Sam took off his shoes and joined her. They danced in the sun and laughed. He told her that was the first time in a while that he had felt happy. Sam also confined that he loved her red hair and smile.
Rose replied that she thought his crooked nose was sweet.
They both went home that night and wrote a poem for each other.
Rose wrote about finding things in life and Sam wrote about love.
They met everyday for a while, getting to know each other. Sam found himself in love. He decided that he wanted to be with Rose so when they met in the park, he told her wanted to talk about something.
He got there a head of her and set up his stuff to paint. Sam waited for her.
An uneasy feeling came over him for some reason. He texted her.
There was no reply. In the end he had texted her five times. There was no reply.
Sam decide to go to her place.
When he got there, there was an older man outside talking to a police officer.
He looked distraught.
Sam felt fearful and scared. But he went up to the man anyway.
The man looked at him and Sam told him who he was.
Sam found out that Rose tried to take her life. She had been taken to the hospital
He immediately went to the hospital to see her.

***

Rose laid in her bed with eyes closed. Sam took her hand in his and she in haled at his touch and opened her eyes. She had blue eyes.
Sam inhaled as well and asked if she felt okay.
Rose replied that she did but still felt groggy.
They talked for a bit about what had happened and why.
Sam told her that she was important to him and that he would be very sad if she wasn't there.
It touched her to hear these words and told him that she didn't want to make him sad.
Sam told her a story about and artist who was a sculptor.
He said that she lived in a world of her own and never saw the world around her. Her sculptors were faeries and gargoyles. People bought them to put them in their gardens. This artist had said that these were her friends but she was wrong he told Rose. Then one day she went to the beach and walked out into the water.
She never came back in.
Sam made Rose promise that she would not do this. That her art would not become her world.
Rose got out of the hospital and stayed with Sam.
He cared for her and each day she grew happier.
They decided to stay together and look out for one another.
Rose and Sam painted together and sold their painting at the spot Rose told him about.

A few years later Sam and Rose were married.
They were married in the park where they danced.
Times had been tough but they got through them and past hurts were mended and life went in different directions.
As long as they had each other, they would face what they could and try find solace in hard times.
They made their home at Sam's place and in the garden stood a gargoyle and in another garden was a faerie. Big sculptors stood guard over the home.
Rose liked to paint in the garden.
Sam told her that the artists had been a past love and that he couldn't part with these pieces.
Rose told him that was okay. She liked them and they needed to stay in the garden.

***

In the café were they met hangs painting by both of them. Visitors ask about the paintings all the time. The owner didn't remember the names too well but others remembered the red haired artist and her boyfriend.
Rose and Sam were what the painting went by for those who remembered them.
No one knew whatever happened to them.
Someone thought they had moved to the dessert where the suns always shone. It helped Rose with her dark days.
Another person thought that she had died but wasn't sure.
Whatever was the case, they touched people's lives everyday with their art.

The Visitor

His names is Terrance.
The resident cats had opinions about Terrance. It varied among them. The tabby girls thought of him as tolerable and only a couple of times did the older tabby chase and swat him.
The other three thought this will not do. Boundaries had to be set.
Separation had to take place.
What did Terrance think of all this?
Well, he liked the place and he made himself at home, despite the contempt he got from the others.
As long as the main group that decided he was better off being kicked out, he was happy.
The smaller tabby girl gave him nose to nose greeting everyday. He liked that.
Terrance thought they might hang out.
The visit lasted for three weeks.
The three discontented ones were getting a little worried that the visitor was going to become a resident.
But alas the day came and Terrance went back to the city to be a city cat and the discontented crew were once again happy.
The little tabby said he come back any time.

THE FALL KING

Hi everyone. I hope it is warm where you are. Here, it is frigid. Today I have the next installment of Poppy & the Prince. Hope you enjoy.

The Fall King

Poppy's heart was thumping so loud she was sure that Seth would hear it and come running after her. She even sniffed the air but all she could smell was the damp leaves and musty soil.
The dog next door was getting louder now and she was sure that Seth wouldn't be at the house anymore. Poppy looked behind her but saw nothing. The path ahead  was dark but she kept going. She never took this path as one time she heard whispers in her ear and they scared her. Twigs would crack and bush would rustle close by. Her heart would jump up and down in her chest. The monsters would get her she was sure so she stayed away.
Poppy entered into the dark path. She hesitated for a moment but forced one foot in front of the other. She startled herself by stepping on a twig and snapping it. Her eyes darted everywhere to see if someone heard her.
Everything went eerily quiet. Poppy had thoughts of turning back. Maybe there was another path but she would have to go back and by now surly she would meet Seth.
Poppy looked down at her feet as if leaving the decision up to them. Her right foot took a step forward. The left foot followed and soon she was walking down the dark path. She held her breath until she came to a small clearing. The light was a dull autumn color and the trees towered over her. It felt like they had eyes on her.
She started to shake and she knew she had to get going. Poppy focused to what was at the end of the path which was a back lane. It just felt a long ways to get there but she knew it really wasn't or so she told herself.
The quietness remained her companion. It was starting to play with her imagination. The solution was to keep going but her hesitancy was her mistake.
"Well, well, who have we here?"
The voice was smooth and soft  with an underlying predators tone.
"Turn around my dear so we all can see you. I won't harm you."
His words made the hair on her neck stand up. She slowly turned to face him. A tall solid built male faerie stood before her. His hair was brushed with autumn colors of burnt rusts and browns with gold highlights. His piercing green eyes shone in the dull light. Pale brown wings draped down his back. He wore a brown vest only baring his strong chest that bared a tattoo. His pants were cargo style and the color of moss.
In his hand was a staff of old oak. His long fingers caressed the top while he studied her. He was not alone. Behind him were four others. They looked just as imposing as he did.
"What's your name dear?"
She managed to stutter out her name. His eyebrow went up. "Poppy you say." He grinned and looked back at his tribe. "You know who we have here?"
Poppy watched them take a better look at her. One of them came forward and stood next to him. "This is the prince's intended."
He patted him on the back.
"Smart you are. It is indeed our little princess." He looked over at her in curiosity. "What are you doing in this part? The little princess shouldn't be here or...
His grin turned into a beautiful smile. Poppy noticed how beautiful he was. They all were. "Did you run away my sweet?"
Poppy looked away. She heard him laugh. It sounded like the wind. The trees swayed which made her jump. She looked widely around and was almost going to run for it when they surrounded her.
He was now in front of her. The smell of the leaves and soil devoured her. She looked up into his green eyes that were wild and feral.
"This has turned out to be a most interesting day. I want to entertain you my princess. I am the Fall King and I want you to come with me."
"But, but, I can't, I have to go. Really." She knew her words were futile.
He held out his hand to her. "Come, I have a story to tell you."

CAT FLASH FICTION-

Hello everyone. Today is another cat flash fiction. Hope you enjoy.

Suki and How Life Works

This won't take long. I live in a nice warm house and as you can see I find sunny spots to sun myself and take naps.
My owner is trained to do certain things for me. I am a bit needy but that can be expected from me.
There is a lot of me to tend to.
There are also things that I JUST DON'T DO.
For instance if a mouse gets in the house, I probably won't do much about it. One of the other felines can take care of this for our owner.
I also don't make friends with certain other felines in this house.
When my owner's back is turned I like to torment Bella. I like to chase her and stuff her under the couch. It's the highlight of my day.
It's not though when I get a shot of water from the spray bottle.
I have to watch for that.
Life for me is pretty good. I get my wet cat food breakfasts and treats of course that are served in-between meals.
There are beds to choose from to have naps on and my basket that is placed on her bed for added comfort.
This is how life works for me, Suki.
Excuse me while I now have my nap.

CAT FLASH FICTION- BELLA & SILVER

Hi everyone. Today is my first cat flash fiction of the new year. Hope you are all keeping warm and well where you are. Hope you enjoy this piece. Have a great weekend!

Bella & Silver

Bella thought he was interesting to say the least. He wore a Xmas hat the whole time. Maybe he wanted to make his own statement she thought.
She met him just this past Xmas. He was new to the house.
He had introduced himself as Silver but she suspected there was a real name behind that one.
Bella showed him around and he was so happy to be here.
She tried asking about where he came from but he wouldn't tell her. He always changed the subject.
It wasn't until the night before Xmas eve  that she learned who he really was.
Bella had been wondering around Xmas eve looking to see if the stocking had their treats yet that something happened.

A flash of silver caught her eye. Bella raced towards the room but when she got there, the room was quiet.
It was a few days later when Silver came bounding out to play with Bella that she told him about what she saw and thought that it was him.
His green eyes widened. "You thought you saw me the other night?"
"Was it you?"
He came close and said, "It was me. I help Santa once a year."
Bella's eyes widened. "You're the Santa Cat?"
His eyes twinkled. "I am but no cat must know. They always ask for favor and stuff. You keep our secret?"
Bella agreed.
They went off to play but Bella had plans to ask him for a favor.
A few extra cat treat would be nice but she would have to remember to ask nice.
